Bissell Lift Off is a cleaning nightmare…. Bissell 3750 Lift Off Bagless Upright Vacuum I have owned this vacuum for three years--and for two years it has sat in t...

I was a bit apprehensive to buy a non-central vacuum after having one as my main vacuum for the last 16 years. We are moving to a new home having to sell our custom built home that contains my Electrolux Central Vacuum. I was very particular in my search to find a vacuum that would meet my needs of picking up dog and cat fur as well as the daily dirt with attachments that still would have the suction power when using them as stand-alone.
When I saw that Bissell offered a number of lift-off vacuums that is easy to carry out to your car or use on the stairs I started my research for how other consumers felt about these vacuums. What I found was it was the one to buy over the ever so popular Dyson Animal vacuum. I looked at the Dyson vacuum and read many reviews and they appeared to have happy owners in the beginning but as a few months go by, the Dyson’s were not really that aggressive of a vacuum and were cumbersome.
What I Bought and What it Offers
I decided to buy the Bissell 37604 Pet Revolution Bagless Upright with the Liftoff Canister. This vacuum has a 15-inch powerhead with a 12-amp motor with the ability to turn the brushes on or off so you can vacuum throw rugs or bare floors. The liftoff canister can sit upright with the tools on the back to vacuum your car or stairs and it has a 30%26rsquo; power cord attached.
This product has a telescoping wand and a stretch hose and the tools include a combination upholstery tool and dusting tool, crevice tool, and a Pet turbo brush for use on the furniture or stairs.
This is a bagless vacuum with a clear dirt capture container and it offers Hepa filtration with 2 washable filters. The %26ldquo;Revolution Separation System%26rdquo; is supposed to keep your filters clean by capturing the fine dust and depositing it in the dirt container.
There are 7 surface settings from Lo to High depending on your needs.
My Experience and What I Think
Assembly was quick and easy. I immediately used it in our home we were moving out of first to see how well it stacked up against my old faithful Electrolux. Much to my surprise, the dirt container became quite full with dirt and pet fur after just 5 minutes and we had just vacuumed earlier that day with the central vacuum. I noticed that it was extremely easy to push. I am wondering if my Electrolux power head brushes are worn out now after seeing what this picked up.
After trying it in one room, the canister needed emptying, so I emptied it, washed it and the 2 small lift up filters, let it dry and put it back into the unit. I was impressed and I actually liked cleaning this dirt canister better than the central vacuum due to not getting all dirty and grimy emptying a big steel canister with a large filter.
I then took it to the new home and vacuumed the wood floors, carpet, tile floors and throw rugs. I then proceeded to try the lift-off feature and vacuum the stairs. It weighed less than 10 pounds and I could hold it in one hand and vacuum with the other or if needed I could set it down at the stair landing and just use the telescoping wand with the Pet turbo brush. However the whole vacuum is heavy weighing in at 28 pounds and I would not recommend carrying the unit up and down the stairs unless I am just getting too old for this. All went well with the vacuuming and I was extremely pleased how well it vacuumed and captured the dirt and pet fur.
For throw rugs and bare floors I would just flip the switch off for the brushes.
This time, I emptied the dirt canister and cleaned the canister, the 2 small lift up filters and removed the sponge type filter and washed that as well. This was so much easier than my central vacuum dirt removal.
The only con I see is the hose still has good suction power but the quality of the hose and the tools are not nearly built as well as my Electrolux, but then the price tag is $1000 less also than my central vacuum. The hose did come out of the socket several times which was a bit aggravating but then it may be I am just getting use to it.
I did notice that the sound was not nearly as loud as past upright vacuums and it had good baseboard side pickup.
I am very pleased with my purchase and hope that my Bissell gives me many years of reliable vacuuming but if it doesn%26rsquo;t, I will just remind myself of the 2 times I replaced the motor in the Electrolux in the 8 years I owned that one and I can buy 6 of these to one Electrolux central vacuum.
The warranty is for 1 year.
