I hate to be cooped up, in a stuffy old house or trailer (camping) when it comes time to cook. In may, 2008 I bought a new Camp Chef
to cook on when we go camping, and it has turned out to be a life-saver. I now how the convenience of cooking in the great out doors.

Starting
In order to start the Camp chef, I need to stick a match (preferrably a long one) into a hole built around the burner and turn on the gas. A long lighter (about 5 inches) is the best to use to light this. There is no big explosion or a gust of flames that flys out at you. It lights nice and easy with a small flame, then I gradually turn up the gas. The burners are located about 5 inches below the grill itself.

Easy setup
The top grill and burner is one big piece (estimating about 36×18x7). The Camp Chef comes with four legs with screws attached, that simply slides over a piece of metal then twist the screws to fasten them on. They can be slid up and down approximately 3-4 inches to level the grill. It has an outer sheet of metal that acts as a wind block or protector. This slides of the edge and the two ends of this folds in for easy storage. I had to but a propane tank (extra), which disasembles easily.

Price
I paid $99.99 (on sale), but then I had to buy a skillet to go with it which was an additional $45. I kept the box to store it in because that was an additional $55. The extra cooking supplies is what costs the most money (depending on what you want). Propane tank bought seperately also ($30 filled)

Space
After the Camp Chef is folded up and put in the box, it takes up about 2 1/2x 3 1/2 feet. When it is put together, It’s about 3 feet long and 2 feet deep and stands about 3 feet above ground. It can be leveled to cook on unlevel ground

Convenience
The Camp Chef is so easy to set up, even I can do it. I’m a girl, and sat it up without having to read the directions. It can be sat up almost anywhere. It takes up a little storage space (see demensions above) and is a little heavy (not sure but feels like about 50 lbs.) It has allowed me the freedom of cooking out side, and visiting with other people while I do it. The Camp Chef is not something that can be taken on a recreational vehicle.

The Camp Chef is the best purchase I have made this year. It is made of steel and built well. Everything works well on it. It lights the first time, and seems to stay going in the wind (slight wind).
