I bought the Kitchenaid KDRS807 range to match my KitchenAid refrigerator and dishwasher. I have had very few problems, but there is one thing that concerns me.
The burners are regular and even; with the double burner I sometimes get a flickering sound when the Power Burner is set to low, but the fire itself does not flicker. All other burners work perfectly. The convection oven provides even heat both on convection and on regular heat. The Bread Proof cycle is convenient and useful.
The only thing that bothers me about this is how the gas burners ignite. The user is first supposed to turn the knob to “Lite”, wait for the spark to ignite the gas, then turn the knob to the desired setting. However, it is very easy to turn the knob immediately to the desired setting without stopping at “Lite” in between, and if that happens the gas can be on without being ignited. I’m not sure if that’s 100% safe, especially if a child or someone unused to cooking were to be involved.
But I do like this range. I haven’t had any of the serious problems the other reviewers had, which makes me wonder if the model has been improved over the last year or if I just lucked out.
