This is a heater that we use in our workplace and it’s about to get a hard year of use this coming winter.
A Hot Sleek Item
This is the slimmest and coolest looking heater I have ever seen. The picture above shows it with the legs. It’s when the option of removing those legs and use the mounting holes on the back to hang the heater on a wall that it gives a very modern, contemporary look. It almost looks like a flat screen TV and is but 2 1/2″ deep off the wall! The other dimensions read 26 1/2″w and 20″h.
The DeLonghi Heater works on radiant heat. There are no blowers. It is absolutely quiet. It has two settings. I noticed it does take a little time to build up the heat, perhaps two minutes or so. After that the heat feels quite warm if standing near it. I would not consider this a personal heater like those small ceramic heaters that blow out the heat. This will give heat to those nearby but this heater is really designed to heat up the air within a room. That does take a little time with this heater but a thermostat can be set so the heater maintains a particular temperature set by the owner. That setting is variable and can be used to pump heat to a level set when out of the room or home.
A Bit More
The heater that comes with the legs and little casters has a handle recessed in the back. Unfortunately that design eliminates moving the heater when it is hot because holding that handle would direct the heating elements toward the body. The heater weighs but 11 pounds. It’s easy to move.
This isn’t a dangerous heater though. It has a switch that will turn it off if it falls and another that will shut it down if it gets too hot.
The heater has a light on it that indicates use or caution. This heater is aid to have bathroom water-splash protection. I’m not sure exactly how that works but we won’t be using ours in a shower ever. It is good to know the Delonghi Mica Panel Heater/Thermo EA DGHHHP1500d does have such safety features.
Last Thoughts
I like the sleekness of this heater. Being able to hang it on the wall eliminates tripping hazards and is great for a place with limited square footage. The one problem with wall hanging is that an outlet must be nearby and the cord is unsightly and can’t be easily covered or hidden. The Delonghi panel heater is a little slow to build heat but once going, is substantial. The two heat setting are helpful and the thermostat works well.
Though I believe the electric, oil-filled, old fashioned looking radiator type heaters give better heat all round, this seems to be pretty good, looks great and can free up floor room in many instances.
The only major problem I have with this sleek, hangable Delonghi radiant heater is that my TV remote won’t change channels on it.
