I love this machine–love it–with all my heart. We even named it. We’ve had it for 3 years even now with very few problems. Shortly after buying it, it tossed up an error code, but a BestBuy tech just had to come and reset the internal control unit (I splurged on the 5-year service contract, so glad I did now). Otherwise, it has been working like a wonder. You have to change how you do laundry, only doing about half-sized loads of what you might do in a normal sized conventional washer/dryer, but for just my wife an I it was a perfect solution in an apartment with no gas, no 220, no venting, just water hookups and a drain. The great thing is, you toss in your load, set the system up to run through its cycle using the very good interface and you come back in a few hours and your laundry is 100% done, ready to wear. No switching machines, no muss, no fuss. It even has a timer so you can toss a load in before going to bed, set the timer appropriately, and it is done when you get up. I also do this on the way into work often, and the clothes are perfectly ready when I get home.

Now, the bad news. After 3 years, the dryer doesn’t work. It just doesn’t. The first load it failed on, the door wouldn’t unlock. I knew something was up. Then I looked in the drum at soppy clothes and knew trouble was brewing. No error codes were displayed, it took the normal drying cycle and everything seemed okay otherwise, but the clothes were soaked and the lock wouldn’t disengage. I tried unplugging it for a while and then tried to get it to unlock, no go. Finally I called BestBuy. They scheduled a service appointment for a few days later, but I was bothered by the idea of soaked clothes sittin in there that long. I tried doing just an extra-high spin on them. It worked and the door unlocked. The spin is so good the clothes were just damp, so I just set them out to air dry. I figured maybe it was a fluke and tried another load. This time the lock disengaged fine, but the clothes were still soaked at the end of the drying cycle (more wet than after an extra-high spin, much more wet). So, I spun them out again and went back to nature’s dryer.

The tech came and couldn’t find a thing wrong with it. He cleaned out some gunk that had collected in the ducting, but not enough to be really troublesome. He said to try again and call back if there were still problems. I tried again, there are still problems. The clothes are still wetter coming out of the dry cycle than coming out of an extra-high spin. I’ve placed another call and am waiting for another technician. My hopes are not high having read the woes of other owners here on this site.
