I bought one of the “Pet” versions, which are basically the same as other version except it comes with a trial bottle of pet odor cleaner. The unit basically works as advertised: fill it up, put it on the dirty spot, hit the button, and go do something else for a few minutes. It does a good job of cleaning, but there are a few issues.

1. It uses a lot of fluid
If you’re following recommended amounts, you’re spending a huge amount of money on cleaning fluid to clean a few spots. I’ve found that it works just as well if you just fill the tank up with water and fill up a spray bottle with cleaning fluid. Spray the spot with the cleaning fluid before hand and run the machine. You get a clean spot, and don’t have to continually buy more cleaning fluid.

2. It leaves a really wet spot
If you run the machine on the automatic setting, the spot is left very damp and takes a long time to dry. I like to run the manual mode afterwards to soak up excess water; it only takes 30 seconds for each spot, so its not that much extra work.

3. It leaves “crop circles”
As others have pointed out, it leaves rings around the cleaned area. The dirtier the carpet is, the more noticeable the ring. It may also have something to do with the color of the carpet; on my dark rugs there is no noticable ring, on my light carpet there are clear rings. On my carpet they seem to go away after a few days of traffic. However, in less trafficked areas, I find that using the manual mode (which has an attached brush) to brush the ring makes it go away. This may be more noticable if you have a really light colored and/or dirty carpet, but it isn’t too noticable for me.

Overall I’m very pleased with this device. It makes cleaning very easy and does a pretty good job cleaning.
