This past April, my family and I moved into a larger house. After vacuuming my new house just one time with my old vacuum (the Dirt Devil M084600 Dynamite Bagless Upright Vacuum, you can read my review here: http://www.epinions.com/content_412031618692), I decided that it was time to break down and get a newer, better, vacuum cleaner.

This time, I decided to pay very close attention to the features of the new vacuum: I had to have attachments (my old vacuum did not; had I noticed that at the store, I wouldn’t have purchased it). I also wanted something that could easily be used on anything from bare floors to thick rugs.

After browsing at the vacuum selections at a few department stores, I was totally shocked to see how much money I would have to fork out for a nice vacuum cleaner. I don’t think I saw a single vacuum for under $100 at any of the stores I first browsed around in.

After deciding that I would not pay that kind of money for a vacuum cleaner, I decided to give Wal-Mart one more try. Wal-Mart was where I bought my old vacuum, but I realized that not every vacuum that they carried could be as bad as my last one.

I finally came across the Bissell PowerForce Turbo Bagless Upright Vacuum and decided that it looked like it had everything I was looking for in a vacuum: it was bagless, it claimed to work on anything from bare floors to high carpet, and, most importantly, it had attachments. I was very shocked at how low the price was: it was about $70. I decided that I would give this vacuum a try.

When I got home, I was very pleased to find that this vacuum has a lot of the extras that many more-expensive vacuums have, such as 3-stage HEPA filtration (with all three filters being washable, so not only are there no bags to buy, there are also no filters to buy!), a TurboBrush that can be used on upholstery, a headlight, and a “Quick Release Cord Wrap” making unwinding the cord very easy. The cord, which is 30′ long, makes it very easy to take the vacuum from room to room without having to stop and unplug and replug each time.

I was also very pleased with the the suction power of this vacuum. I noticed that no matter what type of floor I was on, be it the ceramic tile in the kitchen, the carpet in the bedrooms or the thick rug I have in the living room, I could quickly and easily remove all of the dirt from the floors. I was thrilled to see how fast the vacuum was filling with dirt–not because it has a small collection container but because the vacuum was picking up so much dirt! The dirt container is also very easy to remove, empty, and replace without making a mess.

Other nice features include an on/off switch you can activate with your foot, a crevice tool, and an extension wand. I also like the fact that the vacuum is fairly wide, making vacuuming take a little less time.

I highly recommend this vacuum, and so far I do not have any complaints. If you decide to buy this vacuum, one thing I would like to mention is that I have found that bissell.com is a good place to go for replacement parts. I have noticed that on Bissell’s website, you can get things like a replacement headlight bulb for $1.95 and a replacement belt for $2.99. These prices seem very reasonable.
