The 1600 series comes in three configurations — free standing stainless, built-in stainless and built-in for custom doors. There are further options for an automatic ice maker, all of which are well described on the Liebherr website.We have had our refrigerator for 18 months and are mostly pleased with the design and functionality. In remodeling a small New York kitchen we were limited in choices and the German made Liebherr came highly recommended. We wanted a 30″ wide refrigerator and cabinet depth was essential. We also did not want an appliance that would overwhelm the kitchen. With wood front doors it is unobtrusive. The refrigerator is very quiet. The shelves are sufficiently adjustable to allow for most anyone’s configuration requirements. There is a convenient rack for wine bottles. Door shelves are big enough for large milk containers. The freezer is a bit inconvenient. There are two large drawers, one small drawer and an ice cube compartment. The drawers are not on any kind of a runner and will fall out if one is not careful. There are some drawbacks. Warranty repairs must be arranged from a company in Scottsdale, AZ. We recently waited almost three weeks for a service call. The magnets which hold the doors closed are extremely weak and one must VERY gently close the door or it will pop open. There is an inadequate warning beeper that cannot be heard more than 10 feet away. This is very annoying as we tend to be a bit more casual (careless?) when closing the refrigerator door. We initially had problems with the freezer holding temperature and were told it was improper sealing of the refrigeration coils coming into the compartment. Service people fixed the problem in about five minutes. We were recently again experiencing the same problem with the freezer maintaining temperature. This time the problem was apparently warm air coming in through the defrost drain. A new drain with a one way valve was installed. The broken ice cube making tray was also replaced. We waited almost three weeks for warranty. The service person did say that the Liebherr was overall one of the more reliable refrigerators. Other than this problem we have been very pleased with this product.Further, on the positive side, Liebherr refrigerators have a full 2 year warranty for parts and service
