Bissell Upright Vacuum - The Pet Hair Eraser 1 ea Vacuum

I had the same problem as many people with pets: too much hair, not enough suction. My old vacuum worked well for a while, but like most, crapped out after about two years.

Here’s the issue: I have 2 dogs and 4 cats. While all the animals aren’t in the house at all times, they come in and out and leave lots and lots of hair and dirt wherever they go.

I bought the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser because it was the only vacuum in my price range ($150) that promised to get rid of the shed hair all over my carpet.

My neighbor, who has 3 dogs, coincidentally bought the same vacuum around the same time. While he raved about it, I couldn’t help but feel a little cheated.

I wonder if it does better on my neighbor’s hardwood floors than it does on my carpet. Maybe so. In any case, the Pet Hair Eraser worked really well for a few weeks. It still works fine, but I’ve noticed that it has started to omit a strong burning odor. I’ve cleaned the filters several times and checked the hose and brush. Nothing is caught, and yet it smells like something is on fire in there!

Also, occasionally I will look down to notice that the hose attachment has come loose and I am inadvertently spewing dust and hair back into the air. Gross.

In other words, it’s not the best crafted vacuum. It’s pretty cheaply manufactured. If I ignore the fumey smell and the fact that it comes apart without any doing of my own, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is a mediocre vacuum. You get what you pay for, I guess.

As far as continuing to suck up pet hair, it does. Maybe that’s why it smells so bad…its motor is working really hard to get all the hair off my carpet! Still, I’ve never experienced quite as smelly a vacuum as this!

On top of that, it is very heavy and as other people said, very loud. I think I’ll save my money for a better, more advanced vacuum in the future.
