I wanted to like this washer, but after three years, I’m done with it.

It had almost all the features - an almost endless choice of cycles (there are 14 choices of cycles), water temps, spin speeds, a digital readout for time left, great capacity, etc. It cleaned very well in a reasonable amount of time and the spin cycle left the clothes almost dry! Having had a front loader in my old house, I knew that it can be hard on your back, so I got this one with a pedestal. What a relief!

But the spin cycle was very loud; it sounded like a jet taking off in my laundry room, and no amount of tinkering by the installer could keep the machine from walking across the floor and vibrating the whole house.

Six months in, it wouldn’t drain, which required two service calls to fix. And then I began to notice that every time I used it there was water (or worse!) left in the rubber gasket that would get a mildewy, moldy smell. After each session I would wipe out the basket and bellows and leave the door open. BTW, this can be a real hazard with kids and pets; I found the cat asleep in the washer once. Occasionally, I ran the washer with just bleach. The detergent compartment cracked. Last year, the motherboard gave out - under warranty for parts but not labor. This year, the door hinges started to rust and the door wouldn’t close properly and it would occasionally leak - I’d have to slam or kick it closed. I believe the design - a round porthole in a square door - is the problem.

I gave up and quit. I replaced it today and after using the new washer for three loads, I am surprised at how bad this old washer was.
