Useful! Brother LS 2125 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Brother LS-2125 Mechanical Sewing Machine

This handy machine comes with: three presser feet (regular, zipper, buttonholes), a darning plate, three bobbins, a needle set, an extra spool pin, and a screwdriver. I found all three very nifty, and quite honestly I wasn’t expecting goodies so I found the amount of little freebies they could stuff into a tiny plastic bag and hide in the storage compartment of the flat bed compartment quite impressive.

The sewing went reasonably well. One major issue I had was the thread looping itself around the bobbin case now and then and tangling.

My newest love!! Brother CE 5000PRW

Brother CE-5000PRW

Let me start by saying I have owned a basic brother machine for 5 years and it’s never really done a good job. I struggled a lot with tension and knotting, etc. I sucked it up because it was a gift from my husband. It replaced a 1900’s singer, the old black and gold kind, that I got at an auction for $9 and used for years. It still worked when I replaced it and it weighed 1.5 tons because it was built into the cabinet. Anyhoooooo, the old singer would power through anything and my little brother just didn’t have the power or the skill. It had more features, but that’s it.

A Good Generic Machine Necchi 4595 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Necchi 4595 Mechanical Sewing Machine

I own 3 of this model Necchi, all purchased on EBay. I got one new in the box for $40, and paid around $25 for the other two that are like new. A visit for each to my trusted dealer and they were/are adjusted perfectly.

For those into sewing, this Necchi is like a trip down memory lane, say 30 years ago. The only electronic part on this machine is the pedal. All mechanical. Metal frame, metal body. Double belt drive system. Front-loading bobbin case that uses generic #15 bobbins.

Another Great Bernina Bernina Activa 140

Bernina Activa 140

I own around a dozen sewing machines, including two other Bernina machines. I purchased this machine specifically for travel, as it is a 3/4 sized machine. Surprisingly, this machine isn’t much lighter than the full-sized models. All Berninas have a cast aluminum frame and it shows in the weight.

Experience Sewer, Basic Starter Machine Singer 2639

Singer 2639

I have been sewing for over 10 years now starting with my mothers singer machine. I received this one as my own personal machine since I was borrowing my mothers too many times.

Before I began to sew on it I read through all reviews on the machine with the same issue. Many of the issues that have been noted may have occurred due to the bobbin being plastic. The machine comes with 3 plastic bobbins which I suggest you throw out and go pick up the metal ones. New metal bobbins are really cheap and work wonderfully.

The Easiest Sewing Machine I’ve Ever Used In My 40 Year Sewing Career! Janome 8080 Computerized Sewing Machine

Janome 8080 Computerized Sewing Machine

I have been sewing for 40 years and am considered to be a sewing expert. Before buying my first Janome, I had a top of the line Kenmore for 27 years that I used until the foot control (it’s what you step on to make the machine go) went out, summer of 2003. Since my machine was outdated, I could not find a replacement for the foot control and I went shopping for a new machine. I found the Janome Harmony 8080 on sale and since I wanted a computerized machine (the first computerized machine I used or owned), I bought it. I took it home and it only took about a half hour to set it up and figure out how to use it, which was a relief since I had to go to classes to learn how to use my Kenmore machine.
