I have owned the Bissell Steam Mop for over 4 years now, and it really is one of the best purchases I have made. I still use the original pads and filter for the machine and it continues to work great. I always use distilled water in it since we have hard water, using distilled water helps extend the life of the filter by avoiding mineral deposits.

First you should vacuum or sweep the floor to remove grit and particles.

The steam mop is very easy to operate, simply check that the tank is full of water, slip on a mop pad and then plug it in. The indicator light tells you it is ready to use, usually less than 1 minute.

Use the trigger to control how much steam comes out. You want to make the floor damp but not wet. If there is a very dirty spot or a place you want to sanitize, you can hold down the trigger and move slowly back and forth.

The steam mop uses no chemicals, so it’s environmentally friendly, safe for use in homes with kids and pets, and there is no ongoing cost of operation - no solutions to buy. The heat of steam kills bacteria, viruses and molds and destroys allergens without the need for harmful chemicals or cover-up scents. I prefer to keep a chemical-free home as much as possible so this product is perfect for me.

The damp floors dry very quickly after the steam mop passes, since the moisture is hot, leaving your floor completely clean and free of dulling residue. Sticky spots, stains and dirt are easily lifted and removed with the steam. If your floor is very dirty you may need to change the mop pad a few times when you go from room to room. The mop comes with 2, so I usually do the kitchen and then the bathroom with one, switch and use a clean one for the rest of the house. The dirty pads just get tossed in the washing machine.

I have used the steam mop for years on our hardwood floors and it does not harm them, in fact they look better than ever. I also use it on linoleum in the kitchen, it does a fabulous job on that hard to clean textured lino! And on tile in the bathroom. I like the fact that the steam sanitizes in the bathroom and areas like the cat litter box.

I do not have a single complaint about this product, it is the best cleaning machine I have ever used.
